Manny Flick #1 and Race Day Expectations

Our first "race" is upon us already! As I mentioned this morning, our focus tomorrow is on the technical improvements that we have been working on during practice. I will remind you each of your individual goals during our pre-race meetings. Make sure that you get some rest today and a good night of sleep tonight!

Novices because the equipment will be in use for the racing we will not be practicing tomorrow. Instead you should spend the morning cheering the Varsity on and getting a taste of what you'll be experiencing in only a week's time. Take this opportunity to watch some rowing and get a picture in your head of what the stroke is supposed to look like. You are welcome to come down to the boathouse to say hi, but you'll get a better view from the grandstands.

Varsity/JV please plan to arrive at the boathouse 2hrs prior to your race. If you are racing later, do you best to get to the course in time to cheer on your teammates in the earlier races and to spend some time with the novices and your parents at the tent.  Text or call me if you will be more then 15mins late. (214)-707-0116.

Once everyone in your boat has arrived the following needs to be done before launching:
  • Get your boat down and in slings.
  • Check your boat: (adjust feet, oar height, check top nut and rigging for tightness)
  • Get your oars down.
  • Review race plan with boat-mates
  • Race walk through on the erg (I will explain tomorrow)
  • Pre-race meeting/Review race plan with coaches
Please remember to bring a written race plan, water, a light snack, and a changes of clothes with you.

Go Notre Dame!
